Who We Are

The Electric Utility HR Metrics Group (EU-HRMG) was formed in May, 2003 through the collaborative efforts of Entergy, Aquila, Dominion Resources, JEA, Southern Company, Tennessee Valley Authority and Westar Energy. The Electric Utility Staffing & Recruiting Group (EU-S&RG) added their input and data points in 2010.  The EU-HRMG and EU-S&RG are formed through a charter to provide direction for ownership of data and management of the budget to keep the costs reasonable for participation of all electric utilities no matter the size

The EU-HRMG and EU-S&RG are registered with the Internal Revenue Service under the corporate umbrella of HR Strategies & Solutions, Inc (HRS&S) located in Raleigh, NC and "doing business as" EU-HRMG, Electric Utility Staffing & Recruiting (EU-S&RG) and Nuclear Human Resources Groups (NHRG). HRS&S was selected by the utilities as project manager.

Mission Statement
To provide a forum to develop and track Human Resource metrics and to share best practices for the electric utility industry.

Objectives

  • Commit to continuing to develop, implement and maintain HR metrics and to share best practices for the electric utility industry
  • Commit to providing information in a timely and cost effective basis
  • Continue to show value and to provide a cost benefit to the electric utilities
  • Review HR metrics and verify credibility of data

BENEFITS OF YOUR COMPANY'S PARTICIPATION

Why should your electric utility participate in either the EU-HRMG or EU-S&RG groups and related metrics?

Electric Utility Only
We are not aware of any other group that is formed by the electric utilities where you can compare common HR metrics at a very low cost. An Electric Utility Steering Committee has kept the cost at $1,195/electric utility.

Electric Utility Contacts
Even though the metrics are coded, you will be provided a contact list of all participating companies including contact name, email and phone number.

EU-HRMG Networking
You will benefit immensely from the contacts, mentoring program (for new participants) and conference interface with participants. Most have said, next to the metrics and benchmarking, this is extremely valuable.

Ownership of Data and Analysis
All of the HR metrics and data are the sole ownership of the participating companies. The metrics, data and contact information are accessible at any time by the participating companies (through a code and password) and are downloadable in excel format for additional analysis.

Best Practice Presentations and Surveys
Best practice presentations are posted on the web site along with periodic surveys conducted by the utilities.

EU-HRMG GOVERNANCE

Governance of the EU-HRMG is provided by an EU-HRMG Steering Committee which includes a minimum of nine representatives from electric utilities. The Steering Committee is responsible for oversight of an annual budget submitted by the EU-HRMG Project Manager for project management and conference/ workshops, benchmarking or committees to work on projects related to the metrics. The Steering Committee is led by a Chair and Vice-Chair.

EU-HRMG PROJECT MANAGER

The EU-HRMG selected R. E. Habegger Principal, HR Strategies & Solutions, Inc. and Project Manager located in Raleigh NC. Prior to HRS&S, Rick was an HR Manager at Florida Power & Light Company in Miami, FL and left in 1992 to establish an HR Staff Augmentation Service for the electric utility industry.
